Export of processed food containing meat from multiple animal species to United States

Please be advised that for food containing meat from multiple animal species, the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) requires that the dominant species from which the meat is derived must be clearly mentioned under the “product description” on the certificate CFIA/ACIA 5733.

For example, if a food product contains more percentage of poultry compared to meat (combined pork and beef), dominant species will be poultry and this must be mentioned under the “product description”. Further, if a product contains beef, pork and poultry meat, and the combined per cent of the beef and the pork is greater than the percentage of poultry alone, the product is classified by FSIS as a meat product and not a poultry product.
