Canadian Food Safety System Recognized as Comparable to U.S.

The Food and Drug Administration signed an arrangement May 4 with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Department of Health Canada recognizing each other’s food safety control measures and systems as comparable.

The arrangement sets out the principles and areas of cooperation between FDA and the Canadian Participants with respect to public health and consumer protection relating to food traded between the two countries, and to any food safety-related areas of mutual interest.
