NAFTA Monthly Freight Flow Values See Third Straight Increase

The value of monthly freight flows between the U.S. and its NAFTA partners jumped 6.7 percent in January from a year earlier, according to information released March 23 by the [U.S.] Department of Transportation. The January year-on-year increase was the largest since September 2014 and the third straight month of such gains.

Total freight flow values in January totaled $88.0 billion. The value of total U.S. trade with Canada soared 7.1 percent year-on-year to $45.0 billion.. as the value of freight carried on all five major modes of transportation increased with respect to both countries.
