The following documents have been updated:

Chapter 5- Export to the U.S.

Module 5.6 Horses

Changes include the following:

Section 9:

  • Equine infectious anemia (EIA) test result from a U.S. laboratory is a valid document to support certification for export to U.S.A.
  • An EIA test certificate that has an inaccurate description or drawing of the horse cannot be used to support certification for export. An accredited veterinarian is not authorized to modify any information written on an EIA test certificate once test results have been recorded. In order to certify a horse in this situation, the accredited veterinarian may, at the owner’s request, re-sample the horse for testing and wait for the new result before export certification may be completed.

Section 15: This section was modified to clarify when the export certificate can be signed by the accredited veterinarian.

Section 18: A copy of the EIA test result must be submitted along with the export certificate for endorsement.

Chapter 6- Export to Mexico

Module 6.2 Horses

Changes include the following:

Module 8.4 Equine Infectious Anemia

Changes include the following:

Section 13, Description of the horse: If the description is not considered accurate, the form may be rejected as an official supporting document.

Section 17: Under no circumstances is an accredited veterinarian to make any alterations to Form CFIA/ACIA3937 or CFIA/ACIA 4679 once laboratory results have been entered. If the animal description is not accurate, the accredited veterinarian may, at the owner’s request, re-sample the horse for testing.

District offices should forward this information to accredited veterinarians who are authorized to perform Animal Inspection- EIA.
