[US] Customs chief: CEEs could take larger role
U.S. Customs and Border Protection could eventually expand the role of its 10 Centers of Excellence and Expertise beyond revenue-related functions to include making decisions on how and when to release imported goods into U.S. commerce, Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske said earlier this month.
CFIA Consultation - Private Certification
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is assessing industry’s use of private certification processes to determine their effectiveness as an additional tool in the CFIA risk-based oversight regulatory process. As such, the CFIA is seeking feedback from stakeholders on its discussion paper entitled "Use of Private Certification to Inform Regulatory Risk-Based Oversight".
CFIA Consultation - Incorporation by Reference
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is considering guiding principles in its approach for choosing the documents to be recommended for incorporation by reference, specifically under the new Safe Food for Canadians Act. The new Act provides explicit authority for the incorporation of any document, regardless of its source, into the regulations.
