Reminder: Integrated Import Declaration (IID) Certification Deadline
This is an important reminder for all those who declare plant, animal, and food imports to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The deadline to become certified to use the Integrated Import Declaration (IID) process is fast approaching.
As of January 1, 2019, those who declare imports electronically to the CBSA should have completed testing and been certified for use of the new IID process. Through one convenient portal, the IID gives commercial importers and brokers the ability to submit all import information and necessary documents required by the federal government’s import regulations, and obtain the admissibility decision electronically. Also, depending on the commodity, the new process permits importers to submit their declarations up to 90 days in advance and reduces wait times.
To become certified, contact the CBSA’s Technical Commercial Client Unit:

Those who use a service provider should contact their provider immediately to discuss the testing and certification process.
