Business Barometer: Small business confidence dips in May

Canadian small business sentiment eased downward in May, giving back some of the improvement noted the month previously. CFIB's Business Barometer® Index dropped by one point to 58.2 in May from April's 59.2, but it is still much improved from levels in the first three months of 2016.

Alberta farmers asked for input on TPP trade deal

A senate committee is in Calgary this week to get input from farmers on international trade deals, including the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

The 12-country agreement would set the rules for more than a third of the world's trade, reducing tariffs on a large range of commodities like canola, fish and seafood, forestry products and industrial goods.
