'Shrewd' Canada playing long game as TPP trade talks begin in Maui

As Canada's lead negotiator Kirsten Hillman and the rest of her Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiating team sit down with their counterparts in Maui, Hawaii this weekend, they may sense pounding from more than just the nearby surf.

The game has changed since trade negotiators from 12 Pacific Rim countries met in Guam last April.

TPP Countries Gear Up for High Stakes Ministerial Meeting

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) countries are gearing up for a highly-awaited ministerial meeting at the end of July, in a gathering that many officials predict could bring the talks to a close.

The gathering, now scheduled for 28-31 July in the US state of Hawaii, will be preceded by a meeting of chief negotiators from 24-27 July.

Ed Fast to join trade ministers at TPP talks in Hawaii this month

International Trade Minister Ed Fast's office confirmed Wednesday he'll join other ministers in Maui, Hawaii later this month as talks towards a Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal advance to the next level.

Negotiators haven't met as a group since their talks in Guam in May.

New President of Canada Border Services Agency

The CSCB welcomes the new President of the Canada Border Services Agency, Ms. Linda Lizotte-MacPherson and looks forward to working with her. Congratulations!  We also wish the departing President, Mr. Luc Portelance, well on his future endevours. The CSCB Board of Directors had the pleasure of participating in Mr. Portelance's retirement celebrations on June 17th.
