Mandatory COOL Regulations Amended to Remove Muscle Cut and Ground Beef and Pork

The [US] Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service… issued a final rule that removes muscle cut beef and pork, ground beef and ground pork from the list of commodities covered by mandatory country of origin labeling [COOL] requirements, [as of March 2].

WCO Makes Its Origin Tools Publicly Available

The World Customs Organization (WCO) has made its origin tools, such as guidance materials, publicly available.

Previously, these tools were shared only among the WCO Members (customs administrations).

WCO Revised HS Correlation Tables

The WCO has posted revised Correlation Tables between the 2012 and 2017 versions of the Harmonized System. These tables do not have legal status, but are published as a guide whose sole purpose is to facilitate implementation of the 2017 version of the Harmonized System.

Canada amends its sanctions against Iran

The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade, [have] announced changes to Canada’s economic sanctions against Iran under the Special Economic Measures Act and the United Nations Act and signalled Canada’s willingness to resume dialogue with Iran.
