White House Trumpets Progress on Export Control Reform
A White House fact sheet states that with the first set of revised export control lists having gone into effect Oct. 15, the Obama administration “has successfully implemented the first parts of its new export control system in all four areas of the current export control system: what we control, how we control it, and how we enforce and manage our controls.”
Still No Agreement on Harmonized Rules of Origin Work at WTO
Following a Sept. 26 meeting, the World Trade Organization’s Committee on Rules of Origin reported that members continue to be divided on whether or not to work toward the completion of negotiations for harmonized non-preferential rules of origin.

The Department of Agriculture recently issued its semiannual regulatory agenda, which lists proposed and final regulations affecting international trade in agricultural goods that could be issued within the next year as well as rulemaking proceedings that have been in process for some time and are not as likely to see further progress in the near term.
