U.S. tariffs amount to 25% on imported steel and 10% on aluminum

The U.S. is slapping Canada with tariffs on its steel and aluminum imports beginning at midnight.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross made the announcement during a call with reporters Thursday morning.

WTO issues 2018 Annual Report

New bilingual labelling regulations for veterinary biologics and seed treated with pest control products

CFIA would like to advise that a regulatory change has been made that now requires bilingual labels for veterinary biologics and seed treated with pest control products. These changes mean that companies will need to apply French and English labels to:

Canada's imports rose 6.0% to a record $51.7 billion in March. Exports also increased, up 3.7% to $47.6 billion. As a result, Canada's merchandise trade deficit with the world widened from $2.9 billion in February to a record $4.1 billion in March.

In real (or in volume) terms, imports rose 5.3% and exports were up 3.0%.
