Notice to industry: Advice on romaine lettuce
Further to our Statement issued on November 26, 2018, and as part of the ongoing investigation into the outbreak of E. coli illnesses linked to romaine lettuce, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is advising distributors, importers, restaurants, retailers, and institutions not to distribute, import, sell, serve, or use romaine lettuce and products containing romaine lettuce harvested in parts of California (2018 growing season) identified in the USFDA's statement due to potential contamination with E. coli O157.
Companies that are unsure if they have the affected products in their possession are advised to contact their supplier or industry trade group. If the origin cannot be identified, do not sell, use, or serve the product.
