Canada, South Korea in 'tremendous' free-trade talks: minister

Canada and South Korea are having "tremendous discussions" toward a free-trade agreement, said Canadian Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, a deal that could increase trade in meat and autos.

Talks began in 2005, but were later hung up over disputes such as a delay in South Korea scrapping its ban on Canadian beef. South Korea lifted its nine-year-old ban in 2012.

Confusion over 'iPod tax' deepens

It's still unclear whether Canadians will have to absorb a five per cent tariff when they purchase an MP3 player in 2015, even though many people don't even use the music devices anymore.

In its 2013 budget, the government removed a tariff-free category on many goods manufactured in about 70 countries, including China where most MP3 players are made.
