This memorandum outlines and explains the legislation, regulations and general guidelines that apply to the country of origin marking for goods imported from both NAFTA and non-NAFTA countries.

This memorandum has been updated to eliminate references to NAFTA and Non-NAFTA country of origin from the Guide to Schedule II in Appendix B and to remove references to regional CBSA offices.

Through two new policies, the CFIA provides import requirements for a greater number of organisms, and sets out a mechanism to allow the transfer of organisms within Canada.

British Columbia’s Exports Will Rebound Next Year after Modest Gains in 2015: EDC

Lower prices for energy, metals and minerals will produce subdued export growth for British Columbia this year, but stabilizing commodity prices and continued growth in the United States should see the province’s exports increase by six per cent in 2016, according to a new global export forecast released by Export Development Canada (EDC).

New [US] Verification Program for Closed-Faced Sandwich Exports to Canada

The [US] Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Agricultural Marketing Service have established an export verification program designed to verify establishments’ control of closed-faced sandwiches destined for Canada. Once the program is implemented Feb. 1, 2016, only establishments participating in this program will be able to export closed-faced sandwiches to Canada.
