This memorandum has been revised to reflect the implementation of the Canada-Panama Free Trade Agreement (CPAFTA). Changes have been made to provide policy and procedural information related to the administration of this free trade agreement.

CN 17-18, Arctic Shipping Electronic Commercial Clearances Program

1. The purpose of this notice is to provide information on a risk-based alternative approach for clearing commercial cargo and conveyances, in the marine mode, for specific vessels destined to the Arctic. The Arctic Shipping Electronic Commercial Clearances Program (ASECC) is a pilot program now in its third year underway for the 2017 Arctic shipping season.

CN receives strike notice from union representing train conductors in Canada

CN said today that the Teamsters Canadian Rail Conference – Conductors, Trainpersons and Yardpersons (TCRC-CTY), which represents approximately 3,000 CN conductors and yard operations employees in Canada, has given the company a 72-hour notice of its intention to strike as of 0400 hours Eastern Daylight Time on May 30, 2017.
