CN 17-17, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)’s Import Restrictions on Salamanders

1. To prevent the introduction of the fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal) into Canada’s ecosystems and to protect native species of salamanders, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is implementing import restrictions on all species of salamanders entering Canada for a one year period.

    (a) effective May 12, 2017 the company located at 7867 Express Street, Burnaby, BC has surrendered their “BW” type highway sufferance warehouse licence.
    (b) the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has decided not to advertise for a new highway sufferance warehouse at this port.

Export of Pork to China - Detection of Ractopamine Residues in a Canadian Pork Shipment

CN Rail, Teamsters reach tentative deal to avoid strike

Canadian National Railway and the union for more than 3,000 conductors, train and yard workers have reached an agreement in principle on a new collective agreement, averting a possible labour disruption that could have started early Tuesday morning.

Teamsters Canada Rail Conference president Doug Finnson told CBC News the two sides are still working on the wording of the agreement.

New export requirements for Ontario cherries

Effective June 1, 2017, fresh cherries grown in Ontario will be prohibited from moving into the United States and British Columbia, and must be certified free from European cherry fruit fly (R. cerasi) before being moved to other provinces in Canada. The European cherry fruit fly is a harmful plant pest that can have devastating effects on cherry crops.
