Canadian Sanctions Related to Iran – Updated

On October 19, 2022, Canada further amended the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations to list an additional six individuals and four entities in relation to Iran’s gross and systematic violations of human rights, ongoing grave breach of international peace and security and continued state-sponsored disinformation activities.

Modernization of the United States Customs Broker Regulations

Effective December 19th, 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is transitioning all customs brokers to a single national permit and expanding the scope of the national permit authority to allow national permit holders to conduct any type of customs business throughout the customs territory of the United States.

On October 14, 2022, Canada further amended the Special Economic Measures (Russia) Regulations to list an additional 34 individuals and 1 entity. These individuals and entity are agents of Russian propaganda and their family members, and influential individuals spreading disinformation.

Canadian Sanctions Related to Iran

October 18, 2022

On October 3, 2022, Canada amended the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations to list an additional 25 individuals and nine entities in relation to Iran’s gross and systematic violations of human rights and/or Iran’s ongoing grave breach of international peace and security. Listed individuals are now subject to a broad dealings ban.
